THE KIKO BREED
The Kiko breed of goats is an import from New Zealand. The Kiko development as a breed began in 1978 with a specific purpose in mind. At this time approximately 20 does were selected from New Zealand-wide feral herds numbering well over 1,000. Selection was based on high live weight, freedom from constitution faults such as misshapen feet and jaws, apparent milk production potential as indicated by udder size, and a block body shape indicating superior fleshing. The New Zealand goat producers wanted a goat with superior qualities for commercial meat production. To acheive this goal the above mentioned goats were crisscrosed witrh various dairy goats and the wild feral goats that had been abandoned by early settlers of New Zealand.  Through successive generations of a strict culling program, selecting under the guidelines of overall thriftiness, mothering ability, multiple births, weight gain and parasite resistance, a small heard of goats emerged that consistently yielded superior growth and performance characteristics. Its New Zealand developers introduced the Kiko as a new goat breed in Brazilia, Brazil at the 4th International Congress on Goats in 1987.  The Kiko breed was introduced into the United States in the early 1990’s.

We have two seasoned Livestock Guard Dogs available at this time.  We have reduced our goat heart to only 100 % New Zealand stock and just do not need these two dogs.  They are both of Anatolian Sheppard breeding. One is all Anatolian and one is 1/8 Great Pyrenees. The 1/8 dog is in tact, and threw back to the white color of the Pyrenees, but is built like an Anatolian, he is three years old. The traditionally marked dog has been neutered and is four years old.  They are a team, raised together, work together and would be lost without the other as a mate.  The white dog is more skiddidsh than the other, both are sort of stand-off-ish.  Which is natural for a working dog that has spent most of their lives with goats.  These dogs will definitely get the job done for you if you are looking for preditor controal. They are not pets, they are true working dogs.  They are priced right at $500 for the pair.
Sold------Meanie and Duke now reside/are employed by Max Smith in Southwest Arkansas!!
