THE KIKO BREED
The Kiko breed of goats is an import from New Zealand. The Kiko development as a breed began in 1978 with a specific purpose in mind. At this time 20 does were selected from New Zealand-wide feral herds numbering over 1,000. Selection was based on high live weight, freedom from constitution faults such as misshapen feet and jaws, apparent milk production potential as indicated by udder size, and a block body shape indicating superior fleshing. The New Zealand goat producers wanted a goat with superior qualities for commercial meat production. They were developed by crisscrossing various dairy goats with wild feral goats that had been abandoned by early settlers of New Zealand.  Through successive generations of a strict culling program, selecting under the guidelines of overall thriftiness, mothering ability, multiple births, weight gain and parasite resistance, a small heard of goats emerged that consistently yielded superior growth and performance characteristics. Its New Zealand developers introduced the Kiko as a new goat breed in Brazilia, Brazil at the 4th International Congress on Goats in 1987.  The Kiko breed was introduced into the United States in the early 1990’s.

Traveller (SV) is an outstanding buck we have used on our ranch for the past three years.  Again, this guy has just simply worked himself out of a job.  We have too many of his off springs to utilize him profitably.  He is a very aggressive breeder and an exceptionally easy keeper.  This buck throws mostly white kids that hit the ground bouncing like they are on springs!  Very easy to handle and respects fences both net and electric. He is Aristocrat bred (SV) and double registered. He is priced at $500.00, but we would rather barter him for some 100% New Zealand bloodlines. Come on down!!!!! Lets make a deal!!!!
